Civil and Structural engineering design for a new three storey assisted living residential care centre in St Johns, Worcester. The building consisted of twenty units with a mix of physical disability and HCC (High and Complex Care) specialisation units, together with associated ancillary accommodation.
The brownfield site is located within an established residential area of Worcester and used to be a petrol station and garage, which dictated the ground remediation foundation strategy for the site.
The construction was a hybrid load bearing masonry structure with distinct elements of steel framing to suit the Architectural detailing and design, which included projecting cantilevering upper floors over the recessed ground floor facade. The L-shaped design of the building allowed for a protected courtyard to be formed in the south east corner of the site which contained the parking and amenity space.
We also completed the civil engineering aspects of the project including on site access, parking and storm and foul drainage.
