The project consisted of the refurbishment, conversion and extension of the existing 19th century former Brinton’s Carpets offices / admin centre in Kidderminster city centre.
Our scope of work included; the structural inspection and appraisal of the existing culverted river Stour that passes beneath the existing building, structural analysis of the existing building, design of structural alterations to the existing building and design of the new build extensions to create riverside retail units to the rear, together with associated storm and foul drainage.
The steel frame was expressed within the new build elements to reflect the architectural brief. Foundations were piled due to prevailing ground conditions and proximity of the river and culvert.
